World of Warcraft Paid Faction Changes Coming Soon

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft

Are you fed up with your faction on World of Warcraft? Do you have friends that play the opposite faction and you want to play with them but don’t want to lose your level 80 that you’ve worked so hard on? If you’ve ever wanted to change sides just to see how they operate, then you won’t have to wait much longer. Blizzard has just announced that players that want to change factions will be able to do so sometime in the future with an upcoming patch.

While they’re not giving many details on exactly how they’re going to implement the change we can only speculate that it will be much like their other change systems. Right now World of Warcraft players have the chance to change their name, their realm and even completely re-customize their appearance. All of these changes can be made from your account settings and cost just a little bit of money.

Blizzard released on the World of Warcraft forums that players will soon be able to also change what side they fight for. Nethaera posted an official statement stating “We wanted to give everyone a very early heads-up that, in response to player requests, we’re developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance.” That was enough to send the WoW crowd into an endless debate on the pros and cons of this change.

Nethaera goes on to explain that the changes are still a long time out. “There’s still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm. Players who ended up creating and leveling up characters on the opposite factions from their friends have been asking for this type of functionality for some time, and we’re pleased to be getting closer to being able to deliver it.”

We can only imagine what the WoW developers were thinking as they sat around discussing this new change that many players have been talking about for some time. Now that the idea’s been thrown out there they have to come up with exactly how they’re going to control the chaos that’s sure to come from doing this.

While many players will be pleased about this certain guideline will have to be followed and restrictions will apply. Just like with re-customizing your character you are limited to changing your hair, skin color, face and even gender. When you change factions you might only be allowed to change to a specific race like Night Elf to Blood Elf. Only time will tell what the details of the changes will be.
