10 Worst Video game Movies of All time

March 29th, 2009

Vigster takes a look at the 10 worst video game movies of all time. Video games that come from moviesĀ  tend to be worse than movies that originate from books.

So here they are. List any more in the comments below if you can think of them.

10: Dungeon Siege: A Knights Tale

I admit that at first glance this seemed like a really good flick and with Jason Statham as our leading man it had a fighting chance, even with Uwe Boll as the director. The story starts off with our village man’s home being attacked and he decides to go fight against the tyranny. Somewhere down the road the story gets jumbled and loses its’ flavor as Leelee Sobieski has a very strange and unhealthy relationship with a dark wizard who is played by Ray Liotta. This fantasy adventure flick falls short of almost everything but ranks high on a B rated list.

The Difference Between Renting a Game and Buying One

March 21st, 2009

With the next generation console game systems, came the more expensive games. Games that used to only cost $40.00 now cost $60.00. If your one of those gamers that love to buy the special edition copy, expect to play close to $80.00. Cost on video games has been increasing which makes buying them more difficult. When it comes to deciding whether to rent a video game or buy one, there are some factors to look out.

The major bonus to renting versus buying is the cost. For around $16.00 a month you can purchase a rental subscription. Plans vary on pricing and with each plan you get a certain amount of games to rent at a time. The lower plans usually let you rent one game at a time, with unlimited rentals a month. This gives you an option to try out games instead of purchasing them. For example, let’s say there were three new titles coming out averaging about $60.00 a game. If I was to purchase all three games at once it would cost me more then $180.00 with tax. If I had a rental membership, in one month’s time I could rent all three for only the cost of my specific plan.

Three Cheers for Guitar Hero: Metallica

March 17th, 2009

I was born in 1980 and by the time I hit the 8th grade I was wearing flannel shirts and rocking out to Metallica. There aren’t too many bands in today’s music that have lasted as long as these legends. No one can resist the urge to sing when ever Mr. James Hetfield begins to bust out with some “Take my hand…off to Never Never land.”

Guitar Hero: Metallica

Considering how popular Metallica is, it only makes sense that the band would team up with Neversoft and produce Guitar Hero: Metallica, which is set to be released by the end of March. Guitar Hero gives you the opportunity to unleash your inner rock and it’s a game that is enjoyed by all ages and now fans of the series will be able to experience what it is to be a true rock legend.

World Winner Online Gaming Site

March 12th, 2009

If you like to play strategy, word, sports or arcade games and love to compete, World Winner is the place for you. When you sign up you will get access to tons of different games where you can go head to head against other players world wide.

If you are a first timer to World Winner they have a virtual tour that you can take to get better acquainted with the company and how the site is run. The tour will show you how easy it is to pick a game, win money and prizes and join a community of other gamers like yourself.

World Winner Online Gaming Site

World Winner uses a Fairmatching System that will choose an opponent based on your skills, and how long you have been playing. It wouldn’t be very fair to pair you up with an undefeated scrabble player if you were playing for the first time. This system enables players to play in an environment that is competitive and fair.

All the games on World Winner are skill based, that means there are no “luck-of-the-draw” elements like you would find at a casino. When you play against another contestant, the game’s difficulty is the same on both sides.

Danger in Video Games and How to Keep Your Kids Safe

March 6th, 2009

danger

If you are a parent, renting a game is sometimes a better option then buying. In this day and age there are some games that are not appropriate for young children. Every game has an ESRB rating (Entertainment Software Rating Board) that gives you an idea of what type of content you can expect in the game, but it does not go into full detail. Most of the ratings say mild sexual themes, partial nudity, violence, bad language, mild suggestive themes, but it never says to what extent. You could purchase a game that says violence but is that just shooting or is it chopping up body parts? There’s no real way to tell, until you actually play the game yourself. By renting a video game you can see all the game has to offer without spending a ton of money. If the game turns out to be unsuitable for your child, return it and you can choose another title.
